Andrews House Renovation

Project

Architect: Goody Clancy
Contractor: Shawmut Design & Construction
Anticipated Completion: Summer 2024

Andrews House, named for the eighth president of Brown University, E. Benjamin Andrews, is located at 13 Brown Street. In 1939, it opened as the University’s infirmary, and served as a Health Center until Sternlicht Commons was completed in 2021.  In addition to interior cosmetic renovations, work will include roof and window replacement, repointing at select masonry facades and a conversion of the north parking lot to a green space.  It will become the new home for the Cogut Institute for the Humanities. This program is in alignment with Brown's strategic plan Building on Distinction:  A New Plan for Brown (2013).  The project is expected to be completed by the end of summer 2024.
